Yeah but not in the way you think. They never saw their Mom again but they were adopted by a friendly Cockroach that lived in the sewers. She trained them how to play street hockey. Unfortunately someone dumped toxic waste down the sewer and mutated them, but that just made them big enough and strong enough to play with the NHL. Now they’re the Teenage Mutant Mighty Ducks!

Democrats i.e. centrists seem to be dead set on throwing gender issues such as trans rights under the bus right now. I’m not even sure what they stand for anymore.

Trans issues are cheap that’s why both corporate dems and GOP like to center on them .
Most people want to solve real issues - healthcare, social net, housing costs etc all of those require touching oligarchs and ofc dangerous

They aren’t that cheap. People are starting to figure out that if you’re not willing to stand up for some of us, you might not be willing to stand up for any one of us.

Either you stand for human rights or you don’t.

          There’s a difference between

          1. Waving the trans flag every day
          2. Not waving it and supporting professionals to make the best decision
          3. Forcing nazi style cleansing.

One focuses on identity pol while, two meaningfully helps those in need without requiring every voter to be as learned about gender identity as you.

            1. facile strawman is facile
            2. number one does not preclude number two
            3. visibly supporting trans people provides the opportunity for others learn about gender issues

I also don’t care for your vaguely accusatory tone. If you have a problem with me as a person be explicit or shut the fuck up.

I didn’t mean to say that having more knowledge on gender identity was a bad thing.

Politics is about getting enough voters to vote for you with a limited amount of words. Politicians do not have the power to educate, but they do make choices on what policies to focus on.

If those choices focus on dividing the working class we all lose, because some haven’t read Gender Queer that doesn’t mean policy can’t support LGBT+ it just isn’t the main focus to news.

              To quote Mao:

Communists should be the most farsighted, the most self-sacrificing, the most resolute, and the least prejudiced in sizing up situations, and should rely on the majority of the masses and win their support.

Signaling that you are willing to compromise on trans rights is dividing the working class. Do you think trans people live off the air? Do you think they are all sitting on trust funds counting money? They are workers.

And more and more workers are realizing this. Solidarity is not some pick and choose we can let this guy get fucked if he’s unpopular enough. Solidarity is solidarity.

No one thinks trans rights should be the central guiding policy of the government, but just like anyone’s rights, it shouldn’t be something we compromise on.

as shitty as it is they stand for getting reelected, which when compared with “not the overt fascists” should be a pretty good platform… if only they learned something from trump and realized that being loudly pro-your-issues is a positive and being quiet and non-committal is a death sentence

being loudly “we can’t let this ever happen again and here’s how we strengthen the system” should be their platform

Why single out Democrats? That’s unfortunately much of America under oligarchs.

Doesn’t much matter, because at this point even a DSA sweep of the elections is unlikely to turn things around before the train wreck hits, leaving devastation everywhere. For which the DSA will then take the fall - something the Dems used to do before they fully committed to the dark side.

Republicans gained a ton in the same time period: the repeal of Roe, bans on labor rights, a variety of environmental deregulations, and even secret police disappearing people in the night.

Because they’ve held hegemony off opposition to MAGA but use it to just capitulate to MAGA.

Listen, MAGA is the devil you know. He’s gonna rape your kids but he tells you to your face. Democrats on the other hand sell you to him while pretending to be your savior. I don’t personally spend too much time talking shit about MAGA here because water is just wet, not much else to them.

Because no one worth arguing with doesn’t already know what the rest of the oligarchy stands for, yet we still have a myriad of imbeciles trying to go to bat for the Democrats as if they are or have ever been on the side of the working class.

When did the Dems ever seriously champion these issues since the 90s? They have capitulated to corporate interests to pad their pockets every step of the way playing lip service to these problems they have no intention of solving.

    30 fucking years late mate…

Neoliberals threw all that away in the 90s.

Obama could have saved the party in 08, but he abandoned it and assumed some other line wolf would just show up.

He didn’t understand the value of the Dem party, so when he got a chance to pick the sole person in charge of it, he just handed a bankrupt party to the neoliberals, so Hillary bought it and the 2016 primary for nothing while bankrupting most state parties for 9 years.

    We fixed all that shit.

Billionaires just won’t let people say it on the media they own.

The reason progressives are winning all over isn’t that they’re suddenly popular, it’s just that the neoliberals aren’t sabatoging them anymore
