Trans issues are cheap that’s why both corporate dems and GOP like to center on them .
Most people want to solve real issues - healthcare, social net, housing costs etc all of those require touching oligarchs and ofc dangerous

They aren’t that cheap. People are starting to figure out that if you’re not willing to stand up for some of us, you might not be willing to stand up for any one of us.

Either you stand for human rights or you don’t.

        There’s a difference between

        1. Waving the trans flag every day
        2. Not waving it and supporting professionals to make the best decision
        3. Forcing nazi style cleansing.

One focuses on identity pol while, two meaningfully helps those in need without requiring every voter to be as learned about gender identity as you.

          1. facile strawman is facile
          2. number one does not preclude number two
          3. visibly supporting trans people provides the opportunity for others learn about gender issues

I also don’t care for your vaguely accusatory tone. If you have a problem with me as a person be explicit or shut the fuck up.

I didn’t mean to say that having more knowledge on gender identity was a bad thing.

Politics is about getting enough voters to vote for you with a limited amount of words. Politicians do not have the power to educate, but they do make choices on what policies to focus on.

If those choices focus on dividing the working class we all lose, because some haven’t read Gender Queer that doesn’t mean policy can’t support LGBT+ it just isn’t the main focus to news.

            To quote Mao:

Communists should be the most farsighted, the most self-sacrificing, the most resolute, and the least prejudiced in sizing up situations, and should rely on the majority of the masses and win their support.

Signaling that you are willing to compromise on trans rights is dividing the working class. Do you think trans people live off the air? Do you think they are all sitting on trust funds counting money? They are workers.

And more and more workers are realizing this. Solidarity is not some pick and choose we can let this guy get fucked if he’s unpopular enough. Solidarity is solidarity.

No one thinks trans rights should be the central guiding policy of the government, but just like anyone’s rights, it shouldn’t be something we compromise on.
