Political opinions from uninformed or biased celebrities no, but at the same time it’s easier you somebody who already has a following to make that push in the right (or wrong) direction than some random nobody… This is especially true in the US where people are being actively oppressed by their own government, as it’s a significantly harder for ICE etc to suddenly disappear somebody famous versus a random “dissident”.
My problem with the situation is not so much the celebrities speaking out. They can say whatever they want, it’s their platform. My problem is with all the people listening and forming their own opinions around that. There are (or at least should be) better informed sources to learn about problems like this from. Media is fucked up too though so at this point I guess gather information from wherever you can.

Yes, Jewish people suffered greatly in the last century. Yes, there people in certain countries/religions who actively want to kill Jews or at least Israelis. Yes, Israel is a majority Jewish state.

No, a past genocide does not give a free pass to execute a new one. No, murdering thousands in collateral to catch the ones who might be dangerous is not acceptable (not to mention the executions etc of obvious non-combatants). No Israel does not speak for all Jewish people nor have justification to excuse their behaviour/crimes as such. Also, yes the Israeli government/leadership is corrupt as fuck, uses war to dodge accountability, and is involved in a lot more terrible acts than “just” the ones in Palestine.
Honestly, when Mossad was blowing up pages and mobiles I thought that was great. It was strategic, effective, and we’ll targeted at the actual terrorist leaders/allies rather than causing mass casualties… they obviously have the capability to be much more surgical in their responses, so mass-bombings etc seem that much more like war/hate crimes. Doing this just creates more hatred, which leads to more terrorists and a continual cycle.

Here is a simple take on this. I’m living here near a little town on my little half acre of land. Then some people move in beside me on their little half acre of land and they have support of the nearby town and several counties giving them the land and the house. It’s not the best land in the area but they get it for free. Now I’m sitting here on my little half acre minding my own business and the nearby town and counties decide that hey we’re going to give the people that just moved in beside you a quarter of your land and I go no you’re not so I put up a fence they come in and tear it down and take it anyway. Now my neighbors on the other side of me they want to back me but they’re afraid because my new neighbors have the backing of the local police and sheriff. So they just stick to their own business. Well I’m not very powerful but I’ll go out there and I step on my old stolen piece of land and I put up a fence again. This time The neighbor comes out with guns and start shooting my cats tears down the fence and says well we’re going to take a little more and so they take a little more. So we kind of settle into an uneasy fuck you across the fence for a while. Eventually my neighbor sees that hey my land is growing corn and stuff and it’s nice and flat so they decide that that’s what they want to so they decide one day they take down part of the fence and they move it another 50 ft intake my whole front yard now what do you think I’m going to do? I’m going to fight the whole time cuz I got nowhere to go. Then my neighbors decide they want my fucking house too so they come over start shooting my cats and throwing my shit out in the yard setting it on fire all what the help of the local police and sheriff. Now you tell me who the terrorist is?. That’s a rhetorical question.

I mean, I was vocally against Biden (in 2020) in a sense of, “this guy is way too conservative on Israel and will probably lose re-election as a result if the conflict there heats up.” Not a very satisfying “I told you so.” I still voted for him in 2020, but I told this to everyone at the time, and with hindsight I was absolutely right. I still voted for Harris in ‘24, but I wasn’t surprised when she lost after all the Liz Cheney/“most lethal military” shit. The job of politicians is to convince voters to support them, not to ignore them, and Biden/Harris were completely out of touch with their own base. This is not the voters’ or Macklemore’s fault, it is Biden and Harris’s fault. Can’t even blame Trump for this one.

He appears to be caught between a rock and a hard place.
