On Tuesday, a widely cited psychologist took to YouTube to raise the alarm regarding “more highly concerning behavior” from President Donald Trump. According to Dr. John Garrison, Trump’s recent actions suggest “steep neurological decline” and a dangerously “manic-like state.”
Garrison began by playing a clip from a recent Fox News interview, in which Trump declared that the price of oil is “going to go down like a rocket.” According to Garrison, “There were two neurological issues in this very short clip, both of them verbal. One is that he’s having speech planning issues, saying ‘going down like a rocket.’ Obviously, that’s combining phrases. He’s having a hard time organizing his thoughts. And second is an involuntary vocalization.” Here Garrison replays the clip, noting an abrupt sound Trump makes, explaining, “The pathways that deal with language are disrupted. We are seeing serious issues with language with President Trump.” What’s more, Garrison asserts that such vocalizations are “relatively new.”
In the interview, Trump begins talking about the midterm elections, saying, “I’m going to campaign like I did for myself and I’m going to hope that people think that I’m on. And if I’m not on, if they don’t go out and vote, if they go out and vote, we’re going to win easily.” As Garrison notes, “What he’s saying makes absolutely no sense. He cannot organize his thoughts. He gets confused and he believes what he’s saying is coherent. But it truly makes no sense.” According to Garrison, this struggle with verbal planning can be evidence of underlying “neurological issues.”
Here Garrison points to Trump’s pupils, which have remained dilated throughout the interview. “Trump is in a very bright room for this interview,” says Garrison. “You can see the lights actually reflecting off of his eyes, and what should be happening is that his pupils should be constricting rather than dilating because when there’s too much light in a room, your pupils get smaller, not bigger.” According to Garrison, “Dilated pupils like this can be from a wide variety of reasons, but it’s not just something that happens,” and likely culprits include medication for something like incontinence, Parkinson’s disease, or seizures.
…
As much as I LOATHE him, he is nothing but a mouthpiece. There are numerous people/entities controlling him and the things that are getting done in the government. I don’t actually believe that he has any power to make anything happen. I think the people who are controlling him are making things happen. First of all he’s not that smart, and second of all he’s obviously in cognitive decline I wouldn’t be surprised if he even knows what day it is. And even after he is gone however that is the powers that are controlling him are going to control the next puppet of the Republican party. So even if he croaks tomorrow and the couch fucker is in there nothing’s going to change.
Fascim is there to stay regardless of what happens. Dumbass retard Americans think that they are going back to “normal” after his passing. The only place they’re going is to the camps.
So even if he croaks tomorrow and the couch fucker is in there nothing’s going to change.
Too many people are oblivious to this obvious assessment. :/ You’re one of very few I see who share that opinion. The think if the orange pedo croaks the world will miraculously be cured. Spoiler: it won’t.
The christian nationalist have been planning this for a really really long time. The have spent billions on propaganda. I’ll never understand how people are so fucking stupid to fall for it. The hate they have created for any type is progress is astounding.
Fascim is there to stay regardless of what happens. Dumbass retard Americans think that they are going back to “normal” after his passing. The only direction place they’re going is to the camps.
Whatever. Doesn’t matter till he’s dead or gone. Preferably both. Tired of being hope baited into thinking any of this will lead to a measurable outcome.
“It don’t matter. None of this matters.” -Carl Brutananadilewski
Not just him - the ideal is that MAGA will simply collapse without their leader. The issue with that is we’ve already cemented a LOT of power into the executive in just a few years. Trump could drop dead tomorrow and despite having the charisma of an open can of surstromming, I think Vance would be able to hold onto power just through an overwhelming tide of repression. Trump’s caught up with people loving him - Vance, I think, doesn’t care if people hate him.
I think it’s important for the midterm elections. It’s important that folks who care, get out and vote.
Yes, I’m SURE the Democrats will spring into action! Chuck Schumer is gonna put his glasses SO far down his nose once he’s majority leader . . .
Voting matters 100%. Another article saying he’s on the verge of death is what I’m lamenting.
Exactly. I came here to say the same thing: Tell me when he’s dead.
Smith
They never needed him compos mentis to execute their plans. Just alive and filling the chair.
Looking at the Mitch McConnell situation, they don’t even necessarily need him to be alive.
I’d be surprised they don’t weekend at Bernies trump for however long they can get away with it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if your maga party didn’t pass a law that a corpse can be president
I’m pretty sure we’ve had a corpse senator in McConnell for a couple of months now.
The Onion had a good joke about that a decade ago believe it or not.
That’s great and reminds me in turn of scp-1981
There is no end to the things they would do to keep him in power. Nothing they do surprises me anymore. They are easy to predict. Just go with every first thought you have about anything no matter how horrible.
Funny how we’re going to switch from his people praising him and everything he says and does as proofs of his genius to claiming that this hero suffered from a mental disease “near the end”, and we shouldn’t criticize him for that, that would be unfair, cruel, immoral. The line from genius to mentally-ill will continuously move to include everything they want to keep and exclude everything that’s too unpopular. Timeline won’t matter at all.
Hi. Former psych ward orderly here. Mental illness and disability in general don’t care what your ethics are, they’re equal opportunity life-ruiners.
So don’t feel bad about calling an evil person evil if they’re disabled. Don’t make excuses for them if they’re actively trying everything in their power to destroy the world. Don’t try to chalk up their bad decisions to their disability.
There are millions of people who have the same disease(s), and most of them aren’t supporting war crimes, let alone committing them. Wheelchair or not, fistful of pills or not, their actions determine their nature. And Trump’s nature is unrepentant, naked evil.
I feel myself die,
When verbal diarrhea,
Spews out of his mouth
This is giving me “The Man In The High Castle” vibes. It’s a show about an alternate dimension where Hitler won WW2. The show starts with everyone figuring out Hitler is ill and going to die soon. There will be a power struggle when it finally happens.
Can we get rid of all the boomers from all governments in the world already? I wanna see a world where we’re fucking “represented” by our regular ass peers?
a widely cited psychologist took to YouTube to raise the alarm
This truly is the stupidest timeline
Children were abused,
The perps get away with it,
Who’s really in charge?
he’s still your president
you elected him
he’s what represents your country
he’s a stupid child rapist
eh, to be fair to USA people even though they are the worst people on earth, their elections are corrupt and fixed by the way they draw districts and manipulate ballots. It isn’t a democracy in any meaningful way.
Another European who thinks having a bigoted view of all Americans somehow makes them better than the bigoted Americans. Idiots.
you think if someone is not american they’re european?
stupid yankees…
anyways, how is pointing out you elected him bigoted?
you did elect him and he is your president
European was the easiest guess without having to learn more about you ( something I have zero interest in based on your negativity) Obviously the point was that you are blaming every American for the actions of a cult. You are not better than me because you have the privilege of not living here. You are definitely not better than the people who voted for him because the way you speak is just fucking like them, ignorant as fuck.

Accusing me of not reading is hilarious. You clearly didn’t read what I wrote or you don’t have language comprehension skills to deduce reasoning. If you can’t see the problem with blaming every American for the actions of the people who actually DID elect them, then you are part of the problem…part of the problem that affects the human species as a whole, not just the people behind certain boundaries. Calling me gay doesn’t really hurt someone who has sucked dozens of dicks btw.
no one else in the world would be this insulted and jump to defend their country after being told their president was elected
no one exept americans
you hate your own peers so much you don’t even consider the president as your president
I repeat, no one in the world acts this way
Why would I give af what other people act like in other countries with completely different lifestyles? Again you are using Trump supporter logic. I never said i was insulted because you said he was elected or whatever the fuck you are trying to say with your word twisting. I said I was insulted because you lump every American in with Trump supporters. Yes I do hate my peers THAT much (and now you too) because they are sub human scum who are in a cult. I hate them so much I want the entire cult to do a re-creation of what happened with the cult in Jonestown (look it up you ignorant European) see doesn’t feel so good for someone to assume your intelligence level based off of geography, does it? Serious question…Do you think being a p.o.s in another country somehow makes you better than the pieces o.s. in my country? Have you ever heard the phrase, “You take yourself wherever you go.”? I bet you have and I bet you despise that phrase as much as I despise the way you and all the other biggots of the world think. And yes I know you are not European and no I still don’t care where you are actually from.
also, did I call you gay or haven’t you read?
Um yeah you definitely insinuated that was and thought I would be offended by that. Do you think you can just twist the words until you squirm your way out of looking stupid?
I didn’t say you personally voted for him, I said you elected him, thus the importance of knowing how to read
and yes you did elect him
you guys bomb countries, kill innocent fishermen, steal ressources, kidnap presidents
but god forbid I tell you Donald Trump is your president, that would be “negative”

God what a mistake of a human
Human?
I’d retract the given status if I could, but that’s a slippery slope to some pretty dire evils that I don’t think are worth or necessary to cross into for now.
There’s still room for him to decline?
Remember, whenever you hit rock bottom, you can always find a trap door somewhere.
until he is either dead or in a vegetative state there will be room for decline
And he wont lose a single vote
To be fair, that’s not true at all. Only 30% of the primary electorate are his base, evangelicals mostly, other religious nutjobs, business dickheads, and so forth.
It’s a lack of a seeming alternative that is the problem. But no, don’t listen to me, I’m sure Jeffries and Schumer will right the ship of state! /s
I mean, I don’t disagree Jeffries and ol’ Chuck are screwing up bigly, but when election day comes - debate has ended y’know? It’s trump or not.
Last election I was really disappointed with some people who couldn’t face the thought of voting against trump. People who presumably were immediately and lastingly oppresse by his brand of incompetent fascism.
While I’ve always shared that sentiment to some degree, I’ve always known it was doomed to fail without a change in party. It’s become all too obvious that the people that rejected voting all along, were right all along, I hate to say it.
And I say it as someone the encourages people to vote and always votes, against the worse candidates.
But let’s not lie to ourselves, unless we get better candidates the non voting people are not entirely wrong. It means nothing in the medium let alone long term, we end in the same place with the controlled opposition in power every other cycle.
I hear you, but the ‘better candidates’ phase was the last year culminating in the recent primaries and there was approximately zero chatter on Lemmy about that. There was 100% more chatter about a certain mayor of a large city where most of us don’t live.
This is either ignorance of the local politics or standard-issue laziness, and it usually manifests as ‘all politicians are terrible; i refuse to vote’, which we should know by now is support for the fascists currently in power. In fact that’s how we got here to start.
So no, I disagree that the non voting people weren’t entirely wrong - they were entirely wrong, and expecting their favored candidate to magically show up on the ballot without any pre-primary support doesn’t change that totals in Congress make a huge difference as so many items fall along party-line votes.
If they choose to abandon democracy entirely- ok. Then they abandon the notion that change can or should happen. Because that’s how change happens at a national, societal level, right?
Being dead or in a vegetative state both seem to be viable states for holding office in America.
They are still propping up mcconnell.
I assume whatever is going on with mcconnell is a test run for the big day.
Yes.
He should not be in that chair, and every day that republicans enable and
warshipworship him is both abuse and gross misconduct.warship
If somebody wants to warship him, I’m not getting in the way. Those things are dangerous.
And we see how they played it with Mitch McConnell, so I’m guessing they’ll pull the same shit with Trump. Even the dems did this with Feinstein. So it’s really par for the course in this broken system. Will be interesting to see how cool they can play the game and pretend not to be worried this guy has his fingers on the nukes.
It’s par for the course for as long as the people choose to allow it to continue.
It’s par for the course for as long as the wealthy people choose to allow it to continue
FTFY
Incorrect. Spoken like someone who wasn’t around to see Los Angeles in May of '92.
The French invented a solution to the problem of rich decadent assholes in 1789.
The people decide when this ends.
What did the Los Angeles riots accomplish again?
80%+ of executions by guillotines were commoners. Is this the solution you are talking about?
Looks like someone is romanticizing violence.
There’s plenty of scholarship on the topic. There are a number of judiciary-side changes that arose out of the LA Riots.
And no, violence isn’t romantic. I was in Seattle in '99 for the WTO affair. Violence is simply an unfortunate necessity when power accumulates into the wrong hands.
Billionaires are perpetrating extinction-level ecological crimes against humanity. They won’t voluntarily stop. So, it is incumbent on the rest of us to remember that politics is comprised of three boxes - soap, ballot, and cartridge. When the first two fail to curb tyranny, we must resort to the third box because self-defense is a basic right of all living beings.
He shouldn’t have even been allowed to run, and Aileen Cannon should be in prison right next to him.
Been reading articles like this since 2015, pretty sure Trump is going to live to be 115 years old the way it’s going
It started in 2015; the articles and commentators pointed out the famous longitudinal study of nuns that found that loss of vocabulary was one of the early indicators of dementia, and that his vocabulary had noticeably shrunk (“big” and “beautiful” taking over for many other adjectives). It was during his first term that somebody pegged it as frontotemporal dementia specifically.
Keep in mind the difference between “he’s dying” and “he’s lost it.” With this form of dementia, a person’s life expectancy after (early) diagnosis can be many years. Six or seven years from the first clear symptoms to the stage we see now is not atypical. I’m not a doctor, but my educated guess is that he won’t croak for several years yet, especially with an elite medical team providing treatment, but he probably won’t be coherent enough for a third term, even by MAGA standards of coherency.
but he probably won’t be coherent enough for a third term, even by MAGA standards of coherency.
The Republicans will do what everyone does when the President is incapable of preforming the duties of political office.
The Staffers will run the Country or maybe the VP will run the Country.
I mean, the ghost of McConnell is still holding office and we’ve basically just moved past that as a country. I think they could run Trump’s leaky corpse and it would be a close election (even if it was a fair and real election)
I lost someone close to me to frontotemporal dementia (FTD). He was relatively young at onset: early 50s. He started forgetting tasks at work and getting lost driving on routes he’d frequently taken before. From the time of diagnosis until his death was about seven years. It was a horrendous experience seeing him decline like that. He rapidly lost his ability to speak. Shame the progression hasn’t gone that way with Trump. It seems Pig Boy is having the other common form of FTD, where the first thing to go besides memory is inhibitory functions.
In fairness, he has been in decline since before the presidential run and we have seen him get worse in front of our eyes.
Only the good die young.
That’s because anger/resentment is a great motivator to live.
I’ve been saying 102. You’re even more pessimistic
He’s obese, so by today’s standards, he’s incredibly unlikely to make it to 100.
Then again, as he’s clearly done a deal with the devil, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the rare exception.
