Fuck. Unfortunately looks really good.
R* feels like prime, 2009 Apple: fucking insufferable but unfortunately make a strong product, if overpriced.
Apple make good hardware, their software is awful. It’s really annoying because I really want a time of flight sensor on my phone so I can do some 3D scanning but I’ll have to put up with apples awful operating system that won’t talk to any computer that isn’t a Mac
I mean sure they’ve had money and time than God to make it, but boy did it look like they spent it well. The big thing for me is the real time lighting, a lot of lights are drawing shadows and a lot of objects are self-shadowing on each light… it’s crazy!
I’m not particularly a fan of GTA series. However did completed every one of them since GTA III. My issue with GTA VI trailer though is that it looks too realistic, and not really well stylized. It doesn’t ring the vibe of Vice City. And it doesn’t look catchy for my eye. Would love to be proven wrong after release (More good games to complete). I can acknowledge that lighting tech is impressive. Animations are good. And environment is detailed. But atm it looks soulless for me comparing it even to the same GTA V. And story wise tracking 3 doofuses idiotic plans was actually fan. Here I don’t feel anything remotely special atm. Might be a damn good sandbox. But will it be the actual successor amongst the series games is under the question.
I suspect two things:
The world will be more immersive and less soulless once we can actually navigate it. It’s also the first time there’s been a swamp in GTA which is cool.
Lucia will be by far the better protagonist. The other one seems poorly written and with a voice completely mismatching the character model. I think Lucia will have more depth and her voice is more pleasant.
It looks amazing everything about it is incredible. Except Jason’s voice. It’s so immersion breaking I can’t put my finger on it. It’s not that it just lacks emotion, Arthur’s character in RDR2 lacked emotion most of the time. And he’s a great character
This is something else entirely. It distracted me during the entire reveal and I found myself getting more annoyed with it as the trailer went. It sounds filtered and muffled like he was talking into a box fan. During recording
His voice acting was genuinely the only thing that turned me off the game haha.
I actually agree with you. I was browsing the comments and during the first few minutes I was thinking “ah, they’re exaggerating”, but it really did get worse and worse. Really puts me off as well.
It sounds like it’s being ran through one of those anonymous voice filters while the person saying the lines is trying to fake a deep voice.
It doesn’t fit the character model whatsoever. I truly hate it. Do we even know who’s doing the voice yet? Maybe rockstar is filtering it so we can’t identify it yet I don’t know. If it’s filtered great that’s not what we will be hearing. If it’s not. Then it’s a major problem
It’s bizarre too because every other voice was excellent, as is the usual case for R*.
Yes they were. The pistols shot in the hallway sounded amazing and then sounded different in the open which was even better
I don’t think anybody does detail quite like Rockstar. When I finished Read Dead 2 I just sat through the credits in awe at the sheer amount of effort that had gone into it. Animals skinned while you watch, lines recorded twice for close and far away dialogue, whole hunting and animal systems. Subtle changes in dialogue depending on how you play.
Compare to “AAAA” games like Far Cry Avatar, with an equal number of systems, but none are really fleshed out, and the whole thing feels very half arsed in comparison.
I think the only game to really come close to them is Baldur’s Gate 3.
Yeah, the online stuff is pure fucking greed, but I don’t care for that. I don’t play it. I never loaded GTAO or Red Dead Online. I don’t demand I be allowed to pay extra for more DLC. It’s all in the base game I already bought. I play it, I finish it, it goes on the shelf. Or it went on the shelf. RIP discs, I guess. :(
I will still recommend people wait. Wait for reviews, wait for initial audience impressions, and wait to play it on your platform of choice.
What I see is a game that has a lot of detail and some big cinematic moments that make for a good trailer. But whether all that detail translates into a genuinely fun experience remains to be seen.
For all we know, the rest of the game outside of the trailers could be nothing but ET trying to jump out of holes.
Oh, I agree. Always wait for reviews unless you like throwing money away.
And I won’t be buying this game.
