The original did have a cash shop as well. Having not played the remake, I understand that the cash shop now includes cosmetics, which the original did not iirc. The original cash shop had in game resources and bonuses.

That would be more expensive.

When I was starting out with selfhosting and stuff, I had tons of issues with networking, reverse proxies, etc. And much of the advice here was not… particularly helpful. I genuinely don’t think most people here understand how much they know, and how much comes across as gibberish when they speak to a true newbie. I still see it in this forum all the time for new people. Just the other day someone described themselves as a total newbie, nothing more than Jellyfin running on a Mac locally, and a comment I saw suggested their next step should be running proxmox and setting up VMs and this that and the other service. Like… that’s not a good next step.

Disagree. AC 2, Brotherhood, and Revelations are good and I love them, genuinely, but AC1 is undeniably the start of the series to me. For one, the modern storyline was genuinely half of the pull for me, I was so invested. And never have I ever felt more like an actual assassin than in AC1 I think. Every game after drifter further and further away from assassin and into generic action.

The parkour in the OG is definitely slower than Unity. The parkour engine or mechanics, whatever you want to say, came a long way and I think in general only really improved. Pretty much everything else for me got worse with each new release, though.

This is just so blatantly anti consumer. Like, who other than the ISPs themselves are in favour of this?

The parkour has improved in many ways, but no AC game has quite captured the vibes of the first.
My partner and I quite like Mealie. It doesn’t import 100% perfectly like you say, but it does probably 90% of the work.

I’m a huge Elder Scrolls fan. I met my partner on Elder Scrolls Online. I have pretty much zero faith in Elder Scrolls VI being any good.

I’m confused. Doesn’t the current system incentivize what you’re saying?

And if devs try to game it, I’m sure Valve will kick them off or something. And, yeah, customers could be informed before buying the expected play time so they know what they are getting.

Feels like a tough problem to solve, but I don’t think it’s unsolvable. Maybe the refund window could be shorter for games that report themselves as short/small/micro/whatever. Or ineligible for automatic refunds if you have a certain achievement (this one probably is not a good idea).

This is like ordering a steak, eating it, then demanding a refund because it had too much gristle for your liking.

Speedrunning is undeniably still the bread-and-butter, but if you haven’t checked it out in a while I’d give it another look. They do more and more not-quite-speed-run things. Randomizers, showcases, rhythm games, in 2025 they even had a gaming themed concert!

For me it’s specifically the price to performance. They targeted such old CPU and GPU tech. The CPU especially could be better for that price.

I mean, a better comparison is, I have a soup to sell you but it doesn’t come with the protein or stock components. Which is actually a thing.

Not true for the majority of games, however there have been a few that have done this or something like this.
Been seeing this sentiment a lot in the wake of the news and want to stress, most games still come on disc these days. FF7 Rebirth, for example, is so big it comes on two.

Why would a legal battle ensue? I don’t believe OP is suggesting profiting off any of these IPs, just providing a database.
