Essentially yes, the goal is division and particularly division with zero possibility of resolution so that the division is eternal. The worst outcome is people who have the most in common put down their differences and work together. Instead one needs to get people fighting one another over increasingly minute details. It’s best when it’s worked into an almost religious state of infallibility on both sides. We are the good guys and they are Satan incarnate and the only way forward or cure is their complete and utter removal. There’s a lot of common ground to be found between people if they were to relax and not go full bore tribalism with politics. That is people usually prefer being right to such a degree they are willing to disregard the wellbeing of everyone for it.
