A dictator whose economy works together with our economy, or a pedophile crooked clown dictator whose economy tries to work against our economy and who increases world tension and threatens my country and our freedom… Damn, hard choice.

On the other hand China is spending trillions on building infrastructure in dozens of other countries across the planet.

And not unilaterally ending trade agreements for either no reason, or because they had their feelings hurt.

China soaked up all the soft power the US had with programs like USAID. This administration has done reputational damage that took about a century to build, and will likely take as long to rebuild.

That’s what happens when you elect a dying malignant narcissist with a past with kids and lifelong dream of becoming a dictator.

Pretty telling that Canada and Mexico, the direct neighbours to the USA, have a more favourable view of China.

For the better or worse, it is the Chinese century now. Let’s just hope China doesn’t stop being relatively nice towards its allies and partners once the US is gone.

Lol, empires don’t do nice things just for the hell of it. China is carefully increasing its soft power by presenting a benevolent international image. But if they become an unquestioned hegemon, that will change.

That said the US still has tremendous military power and I don’t see that disappearing any time soon. So I think that’s more a concern for the distant future, and by then China may have too many demographic problems to remain a sole world power.

True, but it’s still better than the US ever was. It seems the current empire skipped the entire ‘play nice’ part and went straight to bullying everybody. We’ll see what the next one does.

The military is only strong on paper. Half of it is spread out all over the world. Realistically, it would take weeks if not months to mobilize it all in case of a major conflict.

Technology is one of the best, but even here China is taking more and more Ws. It’s already moving towards mass producing 6th gen stealth fighters, while the United States’ first prototype is scheduled for 2030. Mass production realistically never, because the country won’t last till then.

        History will disagree with you.

I keep telling to Americans that they are about to learn meaning of word “inertia” very intimately. They still don’t seem to get it.

We are all gonna get fucked, though.

They still don’t seem to get it.

Murican here. Assuming we don’t get it is the best case explanation for our collective bullshit, and frankly we don’t deserve that kind of benefit of the doubt. Ignorance detracts from intent. We all knew exactly what we voted for: the warnings sounded like an air raid siren. The nosedive we’re stuck in is because the majority of our voters are evil. …not that there’s any shortage of stupid going around here, but innocent stupidity cannot explain the consistent storm of human rights violations coming from our country.

And before anyone starts spitting up Hanlon’s Razor, that philosophy is a nice fantasy, but simply doesn’t apply to the reality we’re stuck in.

Anyway, we’ll get what’s coming to us, and we’ll deserve it. Sucks that the rest of the world has to deal with our bullshit though - y’all deserve a better neighbor.
