I agree that prison reform should focus much more on rehabilitation, but completely eliminating prisons raises serious questions about public safety and accountability.

I think you meant to reply to someone at the very bottom of the comment section.

      Private prisons should not exist.

America’s prison system is so thoroughly fucked because of its privatization. When someone makes money based off of prison population, it should be understood that they benefit the most through high incarceration rates, long sentences, and a lack of actual rehabilitation which leads to high recidivism rates. Not to mention their profit margin depends on keeping overhead costs as bare minimum as possible leading to awful living conditions. Plus the use of prisoners as legal slave labor on loan for added profit.

Counties like the Netherlands, Norway, and Finland have shown how countries can turn a prison system that started like the US’s, with mass incarceration, long sentences, and control through solitary confinement, into a system that focuses on longer investigations, shorter sentences, and reintegration with society leading to low incarceration and recidivism rates.

That was the Biden Playbook, and it resulted in the Democrat Party having a lower approval rating than Republicans. They know that if they don’t go after MAGA, we’ll go after them in the 2028 primaries, and nominate every DemSoc we can find.

Besides, here’s the thing: They’ll go after the MAGAs, because that will distract us from Israel, which holds the leashes of every top-level Democrat. We have TWO battles to fight, before we can gain real control, and start doing things like Medicare4All, Free College/Trades, etc.

I mean, Bannon was convicted of both fraud and criminal contempt of Congress for not compying with the Jan 6 Committeec subpoena.

He, in fact, did go to prison. Only for the pedo to pardon him later on.

While Dems are debating whether they should punish MAGA, MAGA fully expects it, because they certainly would.

      Let’s o-blige them.

We need a different system than first past the post voting to make that happen. I fully support ranked choice voting as one alternative.

Except Hakeem Jeffries told us all today that we don’t want retribution, we want “to get things done.” I would be surprised if Dem leadership will actually seek legal consequences for anyone involved in Trump’s admin.

Sadly the felon in chief will just pardon everyone in a 500m radius around the oval office.
