If history has taught us anything, Samsung will soon cut 5,000 jobs as part of “essential restructuring”.

This was supposed to be satire but I just saw 10 days ago they laid off or notified intended dismissal of 1,000 people.

      Yay for capitalism!

Samsung is huge, were those people in the memory business, somewhere else in Electronics, or in some other part of Samsung like insurance or construction?

I’ve clicked off the article now but most was due to Samsung Electronics headquarters moving from New Jersey to Texas and then some in India.

Contract prices for DRAM and NAND have risen steeply through 2026 as AI server demand outran supply, pushing memory makers toward 40% to 50% operating margins on NAND in the first half of the year.

So, does that sound like a functioning market?

They do as they please all over the world. A few years ago they killed all the life in a creek in Austin, TX with a sulfuric acid spill and never had to pay a fine or clean it up. Actually, they got an environmental award instead
