The current investors are hoping to be rich enough to have their own compound by the time the climate catastrophe gets that bad. By the time they lose money, it will be fairly meaningless. This is why I’ve always hated measuring climate damage in dollars - we can’t measure real world catastrophe against a societal construct
It’s really unfortunate how humans seems to make every ecosystem homogenous. Sometimes intentionally killing things, sometimes bringing things that remind them of home (North America’s starlings and mute swans for example). I really try to maintain a garden full of plants native to my area to support local insect life, but it really feels like using a Nerf gun for a fire fight, as when I step off my property it’s invasive things everywhere.
I’ve got a lot of family in the Caribbean and it’s interesting how much of the flora and food culture has also been changed by resettlement.
Where my family is, the tradition cuisine is generally African or Indian influenced and many of the veggies and fruits were brought from these places. Even botanical gardens that are trying to create a wild food forest are doing so with mangoes, papaya, breadfruit, etc which were all Asian imports. When I go there, I’m often left wondering what these islands looked like in centuries past and what the cuisine was.

I remember when the world thought George Dubya Bush was the dumbest president the US would ever have. This is worse in basically every possible measure.

Don’t buy seeds on Amazon, eBay, Etsy, etc - they are so full of scammers that it is impossible to weed out the legitimate sellers from the fake. And if you get fake ones, you may get invasive species that are harmful to the environment around you.
Most places have some great local sellers. But if you’re buying online I would recommend dedicated places like Canada’s Vesey’s Seeds, West Coast Seeds, or the US’s Prairie Moon
I’m not American, so some of the details may have been lost on me. I thought it was that Nixon and his campaign managers had organized for people to break into a DNC office in order to bug it and get insider information about their campaign?
He’s probably not wrong, to be honest. Spying on the opponent seems to be basic campaigning now

Didn’t they rally to get rid of Obama care, then cry foul when it turned out it was the same as the ACA?
Even if Americans achieve these things, the next Republican government would slogan them out of existence
But if I’m going to pay the same amount of money, why would I not put down the carton with cracked eggs and buy a different one that contains no cracked eggs? I may not starve if an egg is cracked, but I’m going to have to pay the store the same amount, and due diligence allows me to get 12 eggs for that rather than only 11 or 10.
