I don’t know, Pike was kind of a hero, and then lived out the rest of his life in what was basically the Matrix on Talos IV.
Or maybe a holodeck. The analogy is hard because the episodes were a bit vague except calling it illusion.
Either way, McConnell has been sort of the opposite of Pike.
Even medically, there was never damage to Pike’s brain, McConnell was stroking out years ago.
I’d say it was like the Matrix, since his body was still in the chair. Can’t really holodeck out of that.
