I just want to step back and appreciate the absurdity that, regardless of the cause, voters have absolutely no way to even initiate a replacement process for a senator that has failed to even show up in public (let alone do his job) for a month.

Ah yes the simple storming of the Capitol that required dark money funding, coordinated agitator training and logistics (quite literally bussing people in for free), sabotage of security procedures, conspiracy to abduct and hold specific elected officials, and on and on…

AND IT STILL FAILED

Remind me again how a disorganized rabble of randoms will do better? Sheer moral purity?

Going to bookmark this for the next time I hear Europeans chastise Americans for being rich and too comfortable and lazy to fight fascism.

Putting aside social safety nets, an average American needs to work nearly 2.5x as long for the same dollar as an average German. And because that number is inclusive of the whole population, I have a sneaking suspicion that the USA’s larger Gini coefficient makes that ratio even higher between the poorer American vs poorer German.
