  • “Have these gentlemen ever seen a revolution? A revolution is certainly the most authoritarian thing there is; it is the act whereby one part of the population imposes its will upon the other part by means of rifles, bayonets and cannon — authoritarian means, if such there be at all; and if the victorious party does not want to have fought in vain, it must maintain this rule by means of the terror which its arms inspire in the reactionists. Would the Paris Commune have lasted a single day if it had not made use of this authority of the armed people against the bourgeois? Should we not, on the contrary, reproach it for not having used it freely enough?”

    • Frederick Engels

Name one country that is not “authoritarian”, authoritarianism especially nowadays is a buzzword to dismiss whatever you don’t like, every state is authoritarian, the question is who is it against, the workers or the capitalists, unsurprisingly a revolution in a reactionary capitalist world needs to sufficiently use authority to even survive the reaction.

  • Oh no, the country in which we levelled every surface building to the ground and bombed every 5th person to death followed up with crippling sanctions that caused a famine and refusing to follow up on their offer of denuclearization for sanctions relief, they cannot match the richest country in the world in development, what horrors!

Not to mention North Korea after recovering in 2000s from the 90s famine caused by sanctions, it still had by UN verified data better stunting, wasting etc rates than “largest democracy” India.

  • False equivalence, saying this needs to be resolved diplomatically as soon as possible in order to avoid Ukraine losing even more negotiating power, inevitable economic and population collapse and fall into more Western debt for for the Russia-NATO proxy war does not support the Russian invasion and is objectively better for the average Ukrainian cause yes, war is terrible, Ukraine is caught in the cross fire of an inter-imperialist war, many socialists rightfully dismiss it to avoid taking the side of and escalate either NATO or Russia but of the average Ukrainian worker.
