I think it was pretty clear but I do have experience building touch UI. It’s more that a button click was being detected with “touchStart” which made it so that when users accidentally start a scroll gesture with their finger on the button, it automatically triggered the button unintentionally. The proper way to do this would be to detect it with a touchEnd event.

I mean the microtransactions are one thing but the headline is also making it seem like the original was a perfectly ethical game which it absolutely wasn’t.

I don’t think you can compare it the same way though. For one, you’re comparing the marketing departments of companies versus the average consumer. The decision making process is different and the product is different. For piracy, we’re looking a a copy of a piece of work meant to be sold to the masses whereas this is a brand new commissioned piece of work for a specific purpose.
Add in the fact that the licensing of consumer media makes it so that you never actually own that piece of media. Whereas in this case, in most scenarios, the company who purchased the celebrity’s likeness for the production of this work gets to use that work forever.
There’s also the fact that using someone’s likeness without consent is a whole other can of worms.

The key skills you learn from math is not arithmetic. If you’re rationale for math not being helpful is that you don’t find yourself doing arithmetic, you’re not focusing on the main takeaway from math. The key skill is problem solving and logical processing.

Stunning Windows goes still as user-friendly.
I mean I get we are supposed to hate Windows here but highlighting a specific thing that very few people would even want to try and use that as a reason to doubt it’s user friendliness is just picking at straws. There’s tons of reasons that Windows can be interpreted as not user friendly already.

And if you play it over the course of 2 months and reaalllllyyyy like it and wanna buy, then you paid even more?
Well if I go with this method, these are usually singleplayer games that I’m fairly confident I can finish within a few months and won’t really play more than that so it hasn’t ever reached that point for me at least.

More of the latter. A triple A costs 70-80 USD now on release and it’s hard to justify that cost when game pass let’s me play that plus a bunch of other stuff for a month for a fraction of that price. Even if I take 3 months to finish it, I’m still spending less than I would’ve from buying it out right. Plus if I do lose interest past the first month, I can just stop right there.

This is an id software who’s engine has direct competitors with similar tech.
Regardless if they have competitors with similar tech, what they’re doing on the engine side of things is pretty amazing stuff. Personally, I don’t think any engine comes close in terms of responsiveness and professionally, their work and techniques they have chosen to do and implement on rendering is very unique.

I’m not sure if I’m understanding this correctly but I get the impression that you’re applying game pass to every game you want to play. If that’s the case yea, it doesn’t make sense to get game pass. But for most people, we’re getting game pass for games that we wouldn’t have bought anyways or it’s for a game we’re fairly positive we can finish within the month and don’t plan to play after. I think there’s reasons why, it’s just not a reason that can be applied to every game or person.

Games on Game Pass can be modded. Granted, it’s not as easy as something from Steam for the older games but saying they can’t is blatently false. Older games still require to take ownership of files but newer games give you full access. There’s a number of Forza Horizon 6 mods already and the Game Pass version is modded the exact same way as the Steam version, just open the folder and change the files.

Fair, that said, as someone who doesn’t live there, I’d wait to see how things go. As someone in a nearby country, while there are even heavier penalties here, it’s a law that’s rarely ever invoked so I’m not sure if it matters in the grand scheme of things for the individual.

I can’t seem to find anything on the article that seems to say so other than, you should just be careful and verify your software. I can’t imagine going after tens of thousands of people to be remotely viable.

Seems a bit sensationalised but they’re only targeting companies selling pirated copies which sounds about right I guess? Your average user who does this isn’t gonna be affected.
