I don’t think John Carmack is sociopathic. He just thinks differently, and isn’t the most socially-adapt person. He was trying to reason out why the decision was made in the first place:

“Games are competing with every other option for spending your leisure time and money, and the competition is brutal.”

He’s definitely not wrong. I still think Microsoft’s decision was pretty fucking stupid, but disposable entertainment options are at an all-time high, and even with gaming, you can throw a stick up in the air and have it land on a game studio.

The problem with what you’re saying is that they’ve always bought out other studios and then fucked them up.

Just replace “they” with “all publicly-traded companies”. That is the nature of buyouts and short-term stock market thinking. Just look at all of the buyouts EA turned to shit. Or Activision. Or countless other smaller studios that have died to larger buyouts.

If a company gets bought out by a corporation like this, they know what they are getting into.

I’m pretty sure they hired Asha Sharma just to gut the entire Xbox department and force its closure. It’s losing them money, but they want to continue to pretend that they care about gaming.

They’ll hype up the PR, pretend that they are restructuring, and then announce some “sad news” that they had to completely shudder the Xbox brand after a few years of pretending.

The thing is that Microsoft isn’t doing great in the Windows department, either. They are pissing off so many people that they’re losing grip of their near monopoly. And Copilot is almost as bad as Llama in terms of LLMs.

What the fuck do they have left? Office?

Also, this user is a bot. Look at the post history. No normal user posts 40 entries in a 24 hour period. And no, I don’t mean they post a bunch of posts in one period, and bunch the rest in another period. I mean they are consistently posting 2-3 entries an hour without sleep, without a break.

Yep, there it is. There’s the hook. This bot moderates exactly one forum as the only moderator, to sell a bunch of PC parts. There’s the scam. This is just like those YouTuber bots that link to a personal profile for a porn website.

They should bring Hope to anybody.

We’ve tried to educate, but the general public is just so fucking stupid and won’t learn any lessons at all. How many pre-orders does it take before they realize it’s a scam? Fuck, there are still idiots that buy the latest FIFA game at full price every single year.

It’s not even victim blaming when they repeatedly don’t learn they are being shafted over and over again.

Either you don’t have any taste buds, or you don’t order pizza that often. A statement like this is like saying “I taste no appreciable difference between Coke and Pepsi”.

• Papa Johns’ has an almost-sugary pizza sauce that I don’t like that much. I also prefer pan pizza, but their default is that floppy NY pizza style. I consider them one of my least favorite option. Fucking Yum can’t manage any of their brands.
• Domino’s used to suck about 15-20 years ago, but they have improved in every way now. Typically my go-to delivery, for a major chain brand.
• Pizza Hut is still pretty good for pan pizza, but some think is greaser than others. They tend to use a lot of cheese, which is fine by me.
• Little Caesars, absolute fucking garbage. I’d rather heat up a cheap pizza at home.
• Cicis, barely above Little Caesars, about the same quality as Chuck E. Cheese or Mr. Gattis
• Jet’s Pizza, really really good pan pizza, a bit more expensive, but better than old standards like Domino’s or Pizza Hut.
• Mellow Mushroom, Old Chicago, Blaze Pizza, all S-tier pizza restaurants, though they don’t deliver. Making your own pizza with Blaze just makes it the top pick out of all of these.

Comparing copyright, a bullshit concept that was designed only to protect the rich, to building with “the flesh and bones of orphans” is so extreme that it’s not even worth arguing about.
