I can’t see that comment. I can see it on my profile, but when I click on it, I can’t see anything, and I don’t see the comments people left on it/can’t reply to them.
Really odd design from Lemmy/Piefed, or maybe a bug, not sure.

To whoever replied to my original comment (I don’t understand how OC can call me a sociopath, block me, and make my comment disappear, but whatever) and likened playing a game and refunding it to refunding a meal you ate: you can’t re-eat a meal but you can replay a game.
Most shmups you can beat in less than 30 minutes with continues, but the fun is replayability. If it’s not replayable, it’s not worth the money, unless it’s appropriately priced.
I’m honestly tired of people who inhale 1-hour walking simulators on daily basis or have hundreds of games sitting in their library unplayed talking about game prices or value per dollar. Y’all suck at this. You better leave this discussion alone.
Y’all standards are in the gutter. Completing a game does not mean you’re obligated to keep it.
If you did not have fun, or if the game does not meet your expectations for replayability, the responsible financial decision is to refund it.
Whether it’s indie or not is irrelevant. The world economy is shit, and, consumers or indie developers, everyone is struggling alike.
I understand you’re going after people with money to spare who maliciously do this, but that sentence is not it.
I don’t see how this would be too much of an issue.
So not only are people paying more than you’re paying because the value of the dollar is higher in their country, the money they’re paying is now at a higher risk because they have a smaller refund window.
You would be essentially taking an existing issue and making it worse.
This would only work if the game participates in regional pricing, otherwise you’re fucking over most people who don’t deal in USD. $15 to you is not just $15 to everyone else.
If you refund an indy game that you completed, you’re a sociopath and there’s no helping you.

Abuse blocking and retaliate when they’re done attacking. Also, mind your distance and use ranged attacks as often as possible.
Mahou Arms. I bought it for $12 and only played it for a couple of hours.
Most is Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R. Bought for $3, and played for 610 hours so far.
It’s an odd and mixed experience for me: I definitely enjoy it more now because I’m definitely a lot more aware of the genres I enjoy and the genres I typically don’t; however, the uncontrollable excitement of playing through Streets of Rage 2 for the first time is not as palpable as it used to be back then.
I’d say in terms of quantity (frequency) I am having more fun now. In terms of quality, fun felt fresher and deeper back then.
And it’s shit… agaaaaa-in 🎶
FR, 30 games on my list, only 6 hit their historical lows, and 2 of which I had already decided they’re too high for me anyway.
24 either didn’t go on sale or didn’t hit their historical low.
I grabbed The Ninja Gaiden Master Collection (Fuck Sigma, I’m in it for NG3RE), Blue Revolver (Like, fine I suppose I’m running out of shmups, so I’ll try and figure out what put me off about it the first time), Counterclocking (I’ll support any new action game), and Carter’s Quest (I’ll support any new action game)
What I will offer as an actual rebuttal is this: the committal nature of slower movement and attacks really forces you to identify the right approach for a situation. Same reason why I prefer Greatsword/Hammer in older Monster Hunter games. You reach a point where your character looks like they’re demolishing enemies in a relatively effortless manner, but only because the player understands exactly what needs to be done.
This is my issue with soulslike combat: all of this is also applicable to fast-paced action games, specifically on higher difficulties. You won’t Platinum Jeanne on Infinite Climax in Bayonetta if you don’t know what exactly needs to be done.
Furthermore, in fast-paced action games, you don’t only need to know timing, spacing, specific boss exploits, but you also need to master mechanically challenging techniques. The latter is replaced with RPG consumables/builds in souls-like, which you get by exploring—another reason that bogs down the game’s pace.
I’m not shooting down the value of soulslikes; I’m fully aware Dark Souls has no intention to play like Bayonetta, and that does not indicate it’s worse in any way. Just pointing out why their slow pace puts me off.
Hahaha, next up: Happy Chaos in Plus R.
I’m for it: let people eat. Also, they better make that motherfucker Carl fun to play the next BB, which’s definitely coming now that they did this.
This was debunked, I think. It apparently doesn’t permanently brick anything, and mainly targets extra hardware bought primarily for cheating.
Fuck Riot though. Glad 2XKO is not doing too hot.
Maaan, easy: soulslike. Combat so slow, they’re the closest real-time combat will get to turn-based. Everything moves at a snail’s pace in most of those games, holy shit.
If I want difficulty, I’ll just play Bayonetta or Ninja Gaiden or something, it does not need to be slow and boring AF.
Yeah, but building a dream team is so fun if you’re a fan of the sport. Or if you’re doing a challenge like only U20 players or only African players… etc. This wouldn’t be anywhere as good if everyone was fake.
That’s the appeal of the game.
Except KH2 and 3 have genuinely good action gameplay. Like, so good some people rank it alongside Devil May Cry and shit.
Actually, PES and FIFA used to get really good gameplay updates back in the 2000s. Like, the difference between FIFA 2002 and FIFA 2003 was massive, for example.
Then they realized they’re too big to waste money on actual development and went all in on licenses and marketing. It’s been shit ever since.
Football like PES or FIFA? Or Madden?
Because PES was a whole different beast: like, a proper VG with actual meaningful gameplay changes (for the most part) between versions, and FIFA used to be like that in the 2000s.
IDK about Madden though; I only played a couple and they were fine, but I can’t vouch for their quality or pinpoint when they stopped being fun.
I am not, and that was not the point. The point is if you’re paying $5, and someone in a non-USD region is paying $5, they’re taking a bigger risk than you if the game ends up sucking because $5 is worth more in their region.
Lowering the refund period for everyone without regional pricing means people in underprivileged regions are taking on more risk than you are; ergo, you’re punishing them for being underprivileged, and making a bad situation worse.
