I liked it but I didn’t love it. Their season 2 didn’t address any of the concerns or add any systems that would have improved the game and it was hard to justify having a drive dedicated to windows to begin with. If they can’t support Linux, which far smaller companies have been able to achieve, then I’m done with the game unfortunately. I’d love to see its season 3 or play it’s PvE mode they just temporarily released but alas.

They absolutely did not fix the root of this issue which means it is only a matter of time before it happens again.

Luckily most people don’t live in rural communities. I fear you’re right, but I hope Germany can find a Gary Stevenson of their own that can start pushing real solutions in a way all Germans can get behind.

Just want to say, I bought a framework 13 and it’s fantastic. Been running arch off of it for two years and it’s been a workhorse.

It was expensive comparable to a similar specced PC at the time but I make enough to vote with my wallet so that’s what I did. I think anyone who has the money but doesn’t, simply because there’s a better deal that’s worse for the environment and the makers of the item, while holding a right to repair or anti-corporate mindset are hypocritical at best.

The world gets better if we make it that way, and I see buying a framework (if you have the extra money) as a small step in a better direction.

Wealth inequality effects everyone and so it changes how everyone votes, but it also causes certain “answers” to that problem to become more popular or tolerable. So what we’re seeing around the globe is the rise of the far right who are providing the “answer” that rising inequality and lowering standard of living is entirely the fault of immigrants, the loss of the “traditional family”, and pretty much any “answer” except for useful ones. So no, this typically starts by driving people to the right as the right will most easily attempt to maintain the status quo at the expense of the scapegoat.

The follow on effect is the rise of the “radical” left which provides the answer “tax the ultra wealthy, invest in public infrastructure, and strengthen worker rights” - all things that reduce wealth inequality or increase the standard of living.

We’re currently figuring out which side will win out in the long run or if the fundamentals will continue to not change and delay this issue further. For example Merz and the CDU in Germany making life better for the rich and worse for everyone else, delaying the inevitable decision of either the AFD winning or some party like Die Linke (hopefully) or Die Grüns winning. So Germans get to watch their lives get worse until they’re ready to vote in parties with real positive change on their mind (or the opposite, real terrible changes like AFD).

If the republican party was banned after the first trump presidency, they wouldn’t have recovered fast enough to get a second presidency. Most likely they would have stayed fractured and we may have gotten actual reforms.

Love this. It encourages increasing costs instead of paying shareholders, which means higher wages for people.

Also, tax the ultra wealthy out of existence and break up any company over X billion in revenue or Y% of the market share. We need to forcibly distribute power to as many people as possible to ensure a high quality of living for as many people as possible for as long as possible.

God I hope the German people stop this some how. It’s a strange feeling being in a country that can so quickly shoot itself in the foot.

Coming from the US where it felt like things got worse in the background, slowly but surely, and that it had been going on for a while - moving to Germany felt like a wonderful state with a working government. Then the FDP betrayed their coalition and now we’ve got conservatives in control and they’re actively able to make our lives worse rather quickly.

I hope we can survive and overcome this conservative suicide attempt every country is experiencing right now long enough to take back control and implement actually helpful policies.

US does not have a real wealth tax and you can see this by how every study shows the wealthy avoiding taxation in the US and how wealth inequality is the highest in the world in the US.

How does running a server, assuming it’s used some amount of internet bandwidth, handle residential internet speeds? If I’ve got a gig up and down, can I reasonably run like a jellyfin for my friends?
