Well obviously. At no point did I suggest that IRC can do everything Discord can, or that it can replace the things Discord does. All I said is that it exists and works well.

Some bouncers need to have the chat history replay set to enabled, some clients need a plugin to replay the history. I use Soju+weechat and had to do a bit of configuring to get it to work, but now it does work fine. Also, some channels have a server side history replay enabled, for example, in our network the main channel replays automagically 15 last messages and you can do a command to replay the last 100 messages.
Mobile support has improved a lot lately. There is a couple of users on the network who only use mobile to chat. Personally I don’t use any, so I can’t say much about it.

That can be solved with a bouncer. The bouncer stays connected and loads chat history, when you do connect. :)

I’m on a self hosted network that is active almost around the clock, full of chill, wholesome and welcoming people. Tbh, I didn’t even realize I was doing victim blaming. I just thought that was common sense. Life is unfair and bureaucracy is cold and not flexible. You just got to have your ducks in a row and papers in order, in time. And when I say “in time” I mean like 2 years before the absolute last chance. If you are not 10 steps in front of things, this shit happens.
I know because I’ve experienced it myself and every time it was my fault for doing things withing the allowed time but not early.
Yeah, like I said, I know theres been issues with that stuff.
But thats why starting the process in 2021 September was like 5 years too late lol. Should have started it when the campaign for the vote was going on, at the latest on the day the results came in.
I get that there has been issues with bureaucracy and delays and whatnot… but they really should have started the citizenship process right when the right honourable, friend of the pigs, Mr. Cameron announced they would have the vote.
If a gang gathers at my yard and they tell me they will vote if they will set my house on fire or not, I start dialing the fire department then, not when they start whittling the kindling.
