I was just looking to plug a new zigbee coordinator into a POE switch today, then thought - that’s going to be on the wrong VLAN, or, did I trunk the uplink…?
So… that made me think - is anyone using / tried / failed to export device configs, feed it into an AI, and get it to draw out the network??
No, but also, this isn’t remotely hard: even on enterprise networks.
If you need AI to literally draw lines between nodes and label those lines then you are desperately overcomplicating your setup? It’s like using a caluclator for 13+25…
It’s keeping the drawings / spreadsheets / etc. up to date, to know what changes are required, that I’m thinking about.
With multiple switches, VLANs, subnets, etc and I want to add an IoT device somewhere physically convenient, then maybe I now need to trunk the IoT VLAN through multiple devices from the Wifi AP PoE switch, update firewall rules, because this is the 1st device on that physical segment, etc… and then update the drawings afterwards.
Now that’s worth automating.
I’m looking for a map, not a calculator.
