I’ll keep voting blue, because I don’t have a viable choice and I don’t want to cast my vote directly for fascists. Not voting is just another vote for fascism. But damn, we need better candidates. With “allies” like Hakeem Jeffries, who needs enemies?
El-Sayed also won because he’s an articulate, no-bullshit guy who has character and principles.
It’s impossible to authentically advocate your policies when the only reason you have them is as a result of tactical triangulation and poll-watching.
Indeed, those additional attributes were critical in the primary, in general elections, however, most people only have a shallow understanding of policy platforms if any. In general elections most people vote based on party affiliation, name recognition and vibes.
