A civil rights leader is calling for the resignation of Gustavo Gordillo, the co-leader of New York City’s chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America – saying his series of scandals proves the DSA now stands for the “Double Standards of America.”
Can we please defeat the god-damned Nazis before we choke on our own infighting‽
This is the NY Post - it’s not infighting, it’s a hit piece.
It’s reporting on infighting though.
But there isn’t actual infighting. DSA constituents and members aren’t too concerned about any of this, and I’m sure none of this stuff was some big secret. They are concerned with keeping the momentum moving forward. This is the NY Post trying to use their influence to delegitimize the organization by attacking a member in power.
This guys family owning multiple properties isn’t ideal, but it’s not the unforgivable transgression they imply it to be. DSA is getting more national traction and conversation than ever, so publications with interest in stopping that momentum are going to put out pieces like this to try and INCITE infighting.
Good rule of thumb is never read anything NY Post writes. Even if this does bring about or coincide with a resignation/change in leadership, it’s a non-issue.
How dare you make actual sense in this modern age! I’m gonna go stick a fork in the electrical socket in a fit of rage to get back at you!
It would help if a subset of ambitious assholes weren’t taking every opportunity to profit off a genuine movement they don’t belong in. We need to weed them out early or we’re just building another exploitation machine while tearing down the existing one.
More divisive BS from a MAGAT
“How dare leftists own their own home!”
Check out how the voice of asceticism dresses while blaming a young activist for living in his parents ordinary house.

I don’t think “socialists” should have to be poor, but it is other things in the article that seem more alarming than owning a home. Skipping rent payments, no showing to work for months, lying about being in a union, etc. I don’t exactly see what his credentials are for his position in the DSA. All organizations, have a penchant for promoting slimy bros. I hope the DSA become extra vigilant in who they have leading them.
Downvote for NY Post
This is using weasel numbers for the perspective and value of the home. The house is just the white building pictured in the drone picture from above.
It is worth noting that the cots of living in NYC vastly outpaces most of the rest of the United States. If Mark Zuckerburg can have a $300,000,000 fun boat then it seems pretty shitty to try and burn down an entire movement over a $1,500,000 house. Why doesn’t this article reference anyone else’s housing prices or give a comparison? 1 citizen owns a boat that is worth 200 houses at this same value (A price I’m supposed to lose my mind over and denote it as inequality) The tone of this article also borders on hateful in word choice and objectivity. Seems really weird to mention white people encroaching in an historic black area as well. Silicon Valley has had no issue since before the 1990’s doing that to Oakland
Also worth noting that a good amount of the Women’s Sufferage leaders also came from a wealthy background. It doesn’t mean they weren’t fighting for a greater cause.
