This is why I can’t get behind a lot of the “get the olds out of politics”. I would choose Bernie every time.

I think Bernie would trade himself to get rid of the rest of the fossils. That’s why he’s been focusing on uplifting the next generation of progressives instead of clinging to power like Mitch McConnell.

Bernie is old. He’s been at it a long time… We need a fresh generation of progressives and to let the man rest

Or should we force him to work on his deathbed?

Yeah, I have zero patience for any of that, honestly. It’s not like young people are going to be automatically better. Plenty of people that are barely past zygotes and deep in the broligarchy, the podcasting manosphere and the trad wife bullshit…

Ironically, it was the boomers that had the constant refrain of “don’t trust anyone over 30” thing. Even in my teens, I thought this was incredibly stupid. Anyway, we now we see their entire generation smeared as reactionaries, so we see how that attitude worked out for them…and now we see this goofy refrain about forcing politicians into retirement at a certain arbitrary age. Honestly, the way to decide that is at the ballot box. If people really want someone younger, put up someone in the primary. But this dumb notion of “term limits” and ageism is so bone-headed…
