I don’t agree there was anything misleading in this usage. I think you are reading too much into it.
I understand the difference you are describing, but I don’t accept that the use of Edited was in anyway click bait, in this instance.
We are just so used to it being used that way it easy to forget to give the benefit of the doubt.
I could be wrong though, but it doesn’t feel right to me to have issue with this use of language
