But you can buy digital codes for ps5 on other stores like Amazon right now, so is it really that different? And steam is still more expensive than used physical games even with the gray market keys. The fact is that you’re still just buying games for steam at the end of the day.

Steam made gaming cost more money. The same will happen with Sony. You can look up prices on steam and compare them to used console games on eBay/Amazon and see that the physical games are significantly cheaper even when steam is having a sale.

Valve did a great job tricking PC gamers into believing they’re saving money when in reality, the used physical game market was always cheaper than digital.

Keys you buy on amazon for ps5 are created by sony so they dictate the price. Devs on steam can create their own keys to sell outside steam. That’s why you see keys in bundle on humble or fanatical for steam and you don’t see them for ps5.

Unless you have an extreme FOMO, you can get many games for pennies when they bundle them or when they go on deep sale (something that, btw, is not dictated by steam but by the dev/pubblisher).

Just see this month’s humble monthly or last month’s and tell me you can find that many games for so little money on physical.

On top of that, as I said, GoG, itch and epic exist, and they are not Steam so you don’t need Steam to play.
