For now… I predict this is just the easing of toes into a hot bath. I think as soon as there is any opportunity for him to justify a return to road blocking aid without losing Eu funding he will take it.

Magyar was from the same party as Orban, the only reason he ran against him was because Orban threw his wife under the bus to insulate him from a big scandal. To insulate himself from the scandal Magyar also threw his wife under the same bus, divorcing her, and leaving the party to start his new “oppositional” party.

In reality he’s been in lock step with Orban his whole career, happy to ratfuck anyone for political gain up untill he himself got ratfucked.

For now hes getting the benefit of the doubt. But his quick rise despite the Russians officially backing Orban makes me suspicious as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if we later learned that Russia just exchanged puppets because the old one was too worn out

Magyar has the same political views as Orbán, which in my opinion is a problem, but he doesn’t seem to have the same amount of love for Putin. I rather have one problem then two problems. Guess same goes for the people in Ukraine that need that humanitarian aid. Please do continue to address all the problems though, better that than act all problems magically vanished all of a sudden.

I don’t even think Orban really cared about Putin outside as a political tool to garter favour with his political base and to justify his own monopolization of power.

I think if Magyar sees the same opportunity he’s going to start spouting the same beliefs. With those types of political actors, it’s all about which side can offer them the most political capital, not really about liking anyone as a person, or operating under a political ideology.
