China may be fanning the flames, but the whole data-center gold rush has been built on the back of corrupt, anti-consumer backroom deals. They’re an environmental disaster, both globally and even worse in the neighborhoods where they operate, and their most probable end use is as a tool for futher neo-feudalist oppression by power-hungry oligarchs. So fuck 'em. Burn 'em fucking down.

I wrote this on my own nickel, but if someone in China wants to pay me for it, that’s OK. It won’t induce me to be less cynical about the motives of the CCP though.
