The best part is the effort to show it’s fake, because a well done one would be very believable.
Fun fact: onions keep better than limes or lemons and have enough vitamin C in a couple slices that navies used them to prevent scurvy. You had to eat it raw though, like we all are doing with this post. If you cook it that destroys the vitamin C.
The officers got citrus. Also a little bit of lime juice in sailors grog too but the lion’s share of vitamin C was eating raw veggies like that on voyages.
