    unfortunately by the nature of editing and publishing, books are going to be behind the times by a good amount. with how quickly our rights are being eroded, you can look to them for foundational knowledge, but nothing cutting-edge or legally up to date.

    as Nate said in their reply to you, inteltechniques. com will provide smaller updates. privacyguides.org can also be a decent place for tech/software recommendations.

    however, if you’re going into the extremes that bazzell does in his book, getting at least one good lawyer is inescapable. that’s how you stay up to date with how things actually work at a state and federal level, not some random people like myself on Lemmy.
