Diaspora Indians already know this. There’s a ton of racism directed at Indians today, it’s not for off from the post 9/11 period, but arguably less physically violent. There is no brown person in America that thinks themselves white and, even if they did, American society has a way of constantly reminding them that they are not.

My two cousins are half-Thai but thanks to the genetic dice they both look vaguely central american. They got abused quite a bit growing up both for being asian and for being “mexican”. This taught them empathy for others who … lol just kidding. They’re both trump-loving white supremacists who rant against immigrants despite their own mother being an immigrant from Thailand.

Well, it sounds like they’re half white and are white passing as a result which isn’t the experience of most brown people in the US.

I’m half brown. I’ve been called n-bomb, dirty Jew, and various weird middle eastern slurs.

I’m none of those–it doesn’t matter though. If you’re tinted, you’re not white.

One drop rule still in play.

It took me a moment to realise you made a typo and meant to write “far off”. Mistyping o instead of a makes me think you might be a fellow Dvorak user, but I’m prepared to be disappointed.
