Wow. Shit like that makes me think we all fucked up by not having licensing or certification for software engineers like we have with civil engineers. They’ve got a lot a lot of balls claiming they were “hacked” when every unit had the same easily guessable credentials.

She became “fabulously wealthy” by marrying a rich dude. Are women not even allowed to marry well anymore? If marrying up isn’t allowed, every dude in Trump’s orbit will be single.
Thanks for the helpful info
I set up a passkey and stored in 1pass, it worked for that 1st attempt. Time passes, I don’t recall if I’ve gone back to the site in the interim. I go to the site again and it errors on my passkey and I can no longer use my password. Thinking about it some more, I think my original password wasn’t deleted from 1pass so I my guess about 1pass being at fault isn’t right. But it’s possible that websites test for storing in iOS, Chrome and whatever the Android default is and anything else working is just luck.
That wasn’t my experience but maybe 1pass defaults to only keeping one kind of credential per site?

Side note: Isn’t marrying well one of the only acceptable avenues for financial improvement these misogonistic conservative assholes want to allow for women? Even when you happen to do the thing that they want you to do, they still hold it against you.
I’m a software engineer, but not a security expert. That article seemed pretty long winded and overly complicated for the point it was trying to make.
Regardless, I’m not a fan of passkeys as they are currently implemented. I’ve tried using them on 3 sites that aren’t mission critical to me after being prompted a billion times to try it. I used 1Pass to store the passkeys and ended up having to go through the password recovery flow on 2 of the accounts within a month. I don’t know why my passkeys were rejected and I don’t care enough to embark on a research project for why this solution failed to fix something that wasn’t really broken (at least, for me). Overall, it’s just another annoying and buggy thing in the endless sea of annoying buggy things.

I’m not from MN and follow none of this and even I know that she became a multimillionare when she married a multimillionare.
I’ve seen the term “ajudicated rapist” used a bunch. Basically the judge did assert that Trump did sexually assault Carol but since it wasn’t a criminal trial, he was ajudicated, not convicted. If I recall correctly, NY pretty much only considered an incident to be rape if it penetrative and using a penis, so that’s why it’s SA rather than rape. I think their laws are different now so it would be considered rape today.
I don’t undestand how they could even attempt to write something that shows any true contrition. Leaving aside the question of whether any of them actually believe that they did anything wrong and feel regret, wouldn’t writing any truly meaningful esaay leave them open to procecution? (Although, I guess that would only br a risk if we lived in a world where the police and procecutors give a shit).

We just have dumb creators, which is funny because to do that work requires being smart. Maybe just not enough street smart, certainly not in the ones making the decisions.
The rank and file workers put all of their INT points into math, computing and problem solving. Most of the folks doing that work had very little time to take the philosophy literature and history courses that would give them context and framework to look beyond their immediate metrics and goals.
The decision makers are kinda victims of their own success. When you’re that high up and have that much power over most of the people in your day to day life, it’s hard to get honest feedback or pushback and it’s easy to disregard what little you actually receive. They believed their own hype and have allowed themselves to be dumbed down by yes men. And really, you can’t get to that level without an incredible string of luck. Hard work and smarts only go so far, you alao need to win an improbable string of dice rolls. I suspect that the human brain has a hard time keeping that kind of outsized luck and reward situation in perspective.

Yeah. It’s a ham handed attempt to gently deflate the bubble instead of letting it pop at some random point in the future. Which, on the one hand, fuck those guys, but on the other hand, at this point, gentle bubble deflation is probably the best possible outcome for everyone.
Also the “it will kill us all” kinda sounds like a drunk at a bar claiming that their hands are registered as lethal weapons. Are nuclear weapons systems somehow internet accessible? Are labs gonna let AI systems control biological research, drone building or nanobot production without human oversite? I guess it could happen but only after some monumentally irresponsible lapses by the people entrusted to safeguard critical systems. Shit. Are we totally fucked?

I appreciate that you’ve made an effort to find alternatives. I refuse to use Meta products and it’s so frustrating when promoters act like I’m a freak for even asking if they post announcements anywhere other than IG
But aren’t the AI companies always needing to train the next version and replace/upgrade the HW? If it were just a one time startup cost then maybe they could become profitable, but if they will always need to invest heavily in traing the next gen and replacing HW every 2 years, then that’s more of an ongoing expense.
