Yeah, I’m running dispatcharr through gluetun.
I’ve heard mixed things about this. On the one hand, I’ve read the VPN might slow you down. On the other hand, I’ve heard NOT having a VPN might cause your ISP to slow you down.

Yeah, I use the Jellyfin client on a Nvidia Shield.
If someone isn’t motivated enough to actually think and create something, what makes you think they’ll be motivated enough to maintain that thing they didn’t create?
Immich
Downside: breaking changes are fairly common AFAIK
Uh… that’s news to me. I’ve been hosting 2 user’s photos for 1.5 years with absolutely zero breaking changes. I just updating from v2 to v3 and nothing broke.
I briefly checked out Ente, but personally I have zero trust for any project that requires users to sign a CLA to contribute like Ente: https://github.com/ente/ente/pull/11084#issuecomment-4762402896
Immich doesn’t do those shenanigans: https://github.com/immich-app/immich/discussions/7023#discussioncomment-8433346
CLAs are bad because the project can change the license whenever they feel like it. So Ente is effectively reserving the right to go full evil with their CLA.
Whereas Immich can’t suddenly decide they want to move away from AGPLv3.
https://netbird.io/ for your own private network of trusted devices, it’s free and doesn’t require a separate Big Tech account to use (unlike Tailscale)
And then if you want to share Jellyfin with someone who isn’t in your Netbird network… believe it or not, also Netbird
LOL. Called it! 🤣
Ooh, the workflows idea is interesting.
What I really want is for my photos to expire.
Most of the photos I take are junk photos: a picture of a receipt, a picture of a sprinkler model number, a picture of a random bug I saw while I was cleaning the pool. I just need these photos once and then I never need them again. I wish they would go away on their own.
Of course, there are also times when I do want to keep pictures, birthdays, vacations, etc.
I wish Immich (or someone) would create a camera with a switch that allows you to pre sort images into albums: permanent vs temporary
Of course, the Big Tech guys would never do this because they want you to store all of that junk on their clouds.
But, Immich could actually help trim junk.
I was just thinking about this the other day: https://github.com/immich-app/immich/tree/main/docker
Make sure to use the docker-compose.yml of the current release: https://github.com/immich-app/immich/releases/latest/download/docker-compose.yml
The compose file on main may not be compatible with the latest release.
I definitely have not been checking for updates on the compose files on any of my self hosted apps… I probably should…
I’ve been having occasional Internet issues over the last few years and was thinking about having a backup ISP.
A lot of people in my town suggest Starlink… And well, I’d rather not have Internet at all!
However, I did recently find these guys: https://www.computers4people.org/shield I’m gonna give these guys a shot.
It’s probably not comparable, but no way in hell am I ever signing up for Starlink.
