Fedora KDE should fit the bill, I think.

I’m right there with ya 😂. They all are IMHO, but society seems to have applied a sliding scale based on how popular a given religion is.
True Value was my first job as a teen. I was beyond useless when it came to actually using the things sold in the store. I lived at home, had never done any actual projects myself beyond a pinewood derby car, and was not to be trusted beyond which aisle something is in.

It isn’t dead?? This ruins my day.
At the end of the day I guess it’s about brand respectability (same reason some religions are cults and some aren’t, IMHO)

This is something that I learned after having kids. There are more things I want to do than I have time to do them. I needed to learn the skill of being selective because time is a zero sum game, unfortunately.

This is extremely valuable to see wins on the local level, and that it is getting national press.
It will serve to blunt the years of “socialism = always bad” propaganda that has been endemic since forever. More local wins so we can elect and win on the state and national level in numbers with a mandate to actually get something done.
It’s pretty well traveled and established so support for it is pretty easy. Fedora comes in both KDE and Gnome varieties. Debian based, though it uses dnf instead of apt for package installer, but that’s not hard. IMHO it’s a good sweet spot of a release cycle. It’s big enough that issues reliably get ironed out before they hit the stable version, but doesn’t trail kernel updates for too terribly long.
