Shizuku is on the chopping block. One of the change requests being made to AOSP is blocking adb connections on the loopback interface, “for security”.

Personal ownership was so pre-2020s anyways.
I can spend $800 on something I can use for years and resell, gift, or repurpose. Or, I can instead spend $180 annually under the threat of my data being destroyed if I stop giving into the extortion. Easy choice, really. /s

Native CPU instruction execution doesn’t guarantee 1:1 throughput, let alone account for the fact that the PS5 has over double the raw power of a Steam Deck.
Translating API calls from the guest software to the host’s equivalent isn’t free, either. If the emulator uses hardware virtualization, you can also add the extra cycles spent every time the guest needs to perform a hypervisor call.
In a decade, maybe the IPC gains would be enough for something with fewer cores and lesser clock speeds to be able to do the equivalent work of a PS5. Right now? With a Steam Deck? Good luck running anything more intensive than an indie title at full speed.

They say, “Trump doesn’t actually own a home.” Fake news. I own a home. I own many homes, maybe even the most homes out of anyone, ever. People come up to me on the street and go, “wow Mr. President sir, you have a HUGE home.” It’s true. Even last week. I told him, “I have more just like it. Many more. In Florida, in New York, in Little Saint James island—that one used to be Denmark. I made a great big deal for it. It’s a great house. Everyone is always asking me, can I visit, I’ll bring pizza, let’s have dinner. Very great.”

No. It’s accurate. They’re the kind of people who think of themselves as temporarily embarrassed millionaires, and they’ll be damned if their hard-earned future money goes to the poor when they finally strike it rich.

Is there any legal precedent for what happens when would-be voters are detained in front of polls by federal agents for bullshit reasons that definitely have nothing to do with their voter registration? If not, I’m sure there will be.

Those are the requirements for the upcoming Vulkan renderer update to the Java edition of Minecraft, which supposedly will feature a lot more complicated lighting and shaders.
The previous releases used old versions of OpenGL where a lot of time is spent waiting to synchronously dispatch commands to the hardware, and even then it didn’t make very good use of the GPU hardware it has available. It still doesn’t use LODs from what I heard, but to give them some credit, they did finally start to use VBOs about a decade in development.

Yes, optional. As in, the developers have the option to optimize their games despite publishers pushing for cheaper development and shorter deadlines knowing they can get away with instead adding proprietary black box generative models. And you, as the consumer, have the option to either pay inflated prices for a product launched on paper or to instead choose to enjoy motion sickness while playing a game at 20 frames a second.
Keep kissing that leather jacket, fanboy.
When you call them out on it, the excuse is predictably some version of “we’re doing it because they did it first”, using hate speech as the example.

- Check for the existence of
Z:/etc/os-releaseand parse it - Check for the
steamDeckenvironment variables set by Steam - Check that the current account’s username is “deck”
- Use assembly to directly perform a Linux syscall that would crash the application on Windows but not on Linux.
It still can’t guarantee that the system is a Steam Deck, but combining all the above is reliable enough to that it would be easier to write an assembly patch for the game than to spoof all of those checks to pass.
That being said: any developer who adds an achievement just for playing on a specific piece of hardware deserves to be kicked in the groin.

One thing to add to that list:
When checking ProtonDB, cross-reference the environment variables with those listed on the proton-cachyos README. In my experience, most people are copy-pasting environment variables they read from other people without understanding what they do or even if they do anything at all.

They say President Trump wants to get rid of checks and balances. It’s not true. Fake news. They say it, they want you to believe it. Believe me, it’s not true. Nobody loves checks and balances more than me. I get the biggest checks—you’ve never seen bigger—all the time, from Jeff, from Vlad, from Pete. They say, “Donald, you’re doing an amazing job.” Those checks, my checks, make HUGE balances. Big checks, big balances, I love all everything big—but not women, don’t want em. Anyone who says President Trump doesn’t want checks or balances is lying. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!
