Well, it used to be at any rate.

The success of the Trump regime has caused all of our right wing to move to the far right and they’ve dragged “centrists” along with them, so now even something like universal healthcare that was formerly very popular with centrists is now suddenly “far left”. The narrative is that we simply can’t afford universal healthcare anymore (because we have to give tax cuts to the rich, for the Economy™)
