to be fair the overviewer effect has been romanticized and played up by people who literally spent their entire life training and competing for the chance at a few hours or days cumulative time in space while pretending for the deciders and teams of doctors that they arent just normal flawed people like the rest of us. astronauts basically have to buy in to the overviewer effect as one of the things that makes all their sacrifices “worth it”, and part of trying to convince themselves is convincing others that its a real thing most people will experience. its more of a placebo effect in reality, though im sure there are people who genuinely felt it. bezos just didnt have to work for it at all so he has no incentive to buy into the hype, total lack of empathy and compassion aside.

evidently a lot of games dont compress their audio files at all, so a ton of data is wasted on that by itself. theres really no excuse for that because there are plenty of lossless compression algorithms and compressed files will often have faster loading times because the disk read speed is the limiting factor even with the added computational cost of the decompression. thats also true for all the other game files such as textures and meshes and whatnot, which are often also uncompressed.

i wish we could leave religion behind as a species. believing in made up bullshit has held us back for thousands of years, regardless of what flavor of made up bullshit people happen to believe in at the moment. anything positive about religion can be had without the made up bullshit.
why would you pay for textbooks when you can get all of them for free online? heres the current working link to annas archive. download whatever books you want or need, plus a shit ton of scientific articles. every time ive looked for a book on there ive found it, and often multiple duplicates, even for extremely obscure control theory textbooks that only a few thousand people in the whole world would care to read. the scientific articles are less complete but ive had good luck there too.

having taste is not a sign of porn addiction. maybe the over produced step garbage is fine for you, but some of us want to see some actual pleasure and feeling in our porn. i want to watch people having sex, not watch people pantomiming having sex and pretending theyre enjoying it.

no let it hit them. i want a rocket powered exploding door to hit them straight in the ass on their way out. or maybe a rocket powered guillotine. either way i want the door to vindictively hit them, deliberately, purposefully, on their way out.

Gather up all of the crew! It’s time to ship out Bink’s brew! Sea wind blows. To where? Who knows? The waves will be our guide! O’er across the ocean’s tide Rays of sunshine far and wide Birds they sing of cheerful things, in circles passing by!
i realize im completely out of touch with kids lives these days, but its hard to believe its really that bad with chatbots in school. like it sounds like hyperbole, so if its really that bad the next few decades are gonna fucking suuuuck
