You’re right. Nothing has been stolen and then treated as public property in our society. I am fool, and you are a god.
Anyways

Nah.
If you view corporate social media like fb/twitter/reddit as a morally wrong + negative influence on society, then this is a moral win thus worth celebrating.
Especially when you add in that the main barrier to any social media product gaining traction is first hitting that critical mass of enough posts to make it worth returning to -> habit forming + habit replacing.
AS I said to the other dude, I’m not going to keep coming up with examples because you’ll just keep moving the goal posts. There are tons of examples of something of value, natural or man made, being stolen and later treated as a common good.
Just do some research.
Stop getting in their way of “America bad”ing
So I assume you agree that if someone murdered you, you would prefer they go free and live a happy life.
After all what would they be punished for. There is no victim.
Yes that’s one of the mechanisms to steal the land
Furthermore - I suspect he doesn’t even care if you understand it. He cares if it works reliably. If you accomplish the task of solving hard problems by taking shrooms and dancing naked on your keyboard, I don’t see why he would care.
Conquered is a funny way of saying stolen.
Coerced purchasing, or purchasing from someone else who stole, or purchasing under intentionally false understanding, is still stealing.
This is just one example. I’m not going to keeping punting just for you to move the goal posts.
Morality of using resources that someone else stole is ‘muddy’ to say the least but the majority of modern society would not function if we didn’t look the other way.
For example, I hope you’re not living anywhere in NA or most of Africa or many areas in Europe or some areas in Asia. Because if you are, you’re probably standing on stolen resources.
It’s not ‘based’ to be pro-AI.
This is the standard position for anyone that got mega-rich on tech and still has high tech market exposure, such as Linus.
This is the thing I’m trying to advocate people to understand. It’s not that they were wrong about AI a year ago - AI has changed in radical ways people couldn’t confidently predict within just a year.
The AI coding agents a year ago DID create slop that would dillute your code base. The AI coding agents today generally don’t.
It’s becoming increasingly less valuable to combat your LLM and scrutinize it’s output. You can provide more market value by assuming it’s 95% correct, doing some manual verification, and architecting it in a way that leads to low integration complexity. The OOP principles are still relevant - abstract, encapsulate, etc.
I swear I’m not an AI bro despite the above comment being somewhat pro-AI. I’m just trying to be pragmatic about the state of our field.
Honestly it’s kinda sad, he could have been such an advocate for healthy living and staying sober. He could have fought for treatment for addicts.
Same with hegseth, he gets clowned on for not keeping up with the army members he trains with but, brother in christ, he’s 46 and doesn’t hold a position where physical fitness is relevant.
The two of them could have advocated for keeping your body healthy but instead they had to wrap it in manosphere anti-woke BS
I’ve seen dozen of the same core “Gamification of real world activities”.
What makes this one different from the rest?
The two being conflated c o n s t a n t l y pisses me off
Do you not understand that the maximum allowed penalty does not signal it is the standard or common penalty? Did you read the article?
Please stop responding with your bullshit 🫰
Pretty much all of these examples included additional crimes such as rape, multiple murders, etc. which was my point
The two that don’t were later overturned.
Did you read the article? Maybe spend more time doing research than writing a comment… Or better yet at least read the comment you are responding to first.
I will soften my position from “ever” because that includes some of the archaic shit the US did in prior centuries. A better articulation is that they have done any recently
There was recently a mother that killed her 3 kids, admitted to it, and was likely going to a mental institute where she would have been able to be released within months. It’s not that uncommon to hear about a college girl that kills her baby shortly after birth as a way to try to escape the reality.
I’m not that informed on the subject but I would be very surprised if death penalty was ever given for a single instance of killing a baby. Death penalty isn’t even legal in many states although that’s a separate controversial issue.
The death penalty isn’t even commonly applied to one-off first degree murder convictions. It normally takes some other factor such as torture or multiple killings to escalate it to death penalty.
Even if you think abortion is murder this is detached from reality.
Which is a shame considering the Linux distro has never ever once ever ever ever contained a bug
