You can bypass it by not buying such large games. Plenty of good games under 5GB come out all the time.

Should Kojima have died on the DRM hill
Yes, because it would be based. Release on PC only and tell them to go fuck themselves.

You could release DRM free copies that users can copy to any form of media they like. If you are using DRM and complaining about this I have no respect for you.

No idea, haven’t used optical media in like 2 decades.

Got a fair few games that would run at 144FPS on a raspberry pi, though some might be annoying to run x64 on ARM, not impossible. Have got a few that would run natively.
If they keep asking for higher prices I’ll just drop my specs.

They could sell decent USB optical drives to go with them

Gog already are no drm and you could write it to a disc if you really wanted to. It’s been like that for a very long time. Given you would be writing a data disc you can even put multiple games on a single DVD in some cases.
Their windows installers are usually split at 4GB - huh, guess what fits nicely on a 4.7GB DVD…

I mean box art is kinda cool, but who even wants to use optical media? It’s not the 2000s anymore.
Possible idea, memory stick? Faster transfer speeds. Downside is it would cost quite a bit extra. But then posting internationally is probably going to cost a fair bit too so for a collectors item it might not be too bad and makes it actually usable.
So I’ll just give friends a copy instead. Oh that is so much worse than having to share a DVD around…
GOG has been so much better than optical media for well over a decade at this point. You can’t easily backup your physical games. I can backup my game installers, not just GOG either but they are the most popular IIRC. But I got Factorio DRM free directly from Wube.

My thought more was how does an LVM fill each drive? I also filled one drive to like 75% when migrating drives before adding the second. The third hopefully is being added soon. So each isn’t equally filled.
Never really looked into LVM cache options but perhaps getting a single high performance SSD for that could be an idea. Though it probably doesn’t really matter that much.

Currently filling my gog cart with games that run on under 4GB of RAM. Some under 1/2. It doesn’t cost much either.

I wonder how this impacts LVMs, just setup a 2x512GB SSD LVM and plan to add another 500GB SSD to it soon.
But tbh as long as it beats HDD write speeds it’s probably good enough for the most part. Hard to properly test as my most recent large data transfer on it was with game files and many tiny files are always going to be slower.

I can play some games at 4k 60FPS on Linux with less than the win11 minimum specs.

So absolutely no one I respect. Nice. ESA go fuck yourself.
Yeah, and I kinda get it. But it’s annoying when I cannot buy a game for someone else because of it. Even if I was willing to pay the price in their region instead of mine.
