I’m not saying that you can’t find good stuff there. :)
I personally try to avoid it as much as possible due to them being unethical and they not caring about the environment at all.
PS. Happy cakeday!

Aw. :(
If you’re even remotely worried about anything shady, you shouldn’t even be on Amazon to begin with.
Mediocre and repairable hardware for premium prices is not for everyone. Most people probably want the most performance for the least amount of money without any regards or respect for money or the environment.
It probably doesn’t help that they have been in some controversial drama either.
And let’s not forget that Linus Sebastian from Linus Tech Tips is an investor as well. I don’t want my money to go to that greedy turd who screwed over his own audience for money in pure greed, and when he became a rich turd he instantly became the very greedy person he used to hate on the WAN Show.
Oh my. I’m in lack of words… :D
Feel free to prove me wrong!
Meta is running ads that promotes child sexual abuse material with actual kids is as low as it gets. It’s far worse than any AI slop.
Nandy says she will remain active on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
In what universe are these suck services any better than Twitter? She has accomplished nothing by moving away from Twitter while staying at these suck services.
Breezy feels more like KDE. It’s okay if you’re willing to spend a lifetime with confusing settings to make it useable.
And it doesn’t work well with some screen resolutions either. I’m stuck with a tablet-like UI on a phone with larger GUI settings. If you’re 20 years old with perfect eyes it’s probably not an issue. I created a ticket for it but I was met with a quite dismissive attitude and no fix.
WeatherMaster on the other hand looks better and it comes with sane defaults. It doesn’t have as much settings, but you really don’t need them sense the defaults is perfectly fine. It feels like this person knows something about good UX design.
My advice would be to not overthink things. Whatever you do, there’s always a way to undo and/or change it
I don’t know anything about what happened in the US in regards to Trump. However. I find it unlikely that any meme has ever had any play in him being a president, but I said, I don’t know anything about the US history, so I don’t have much to say about it.
Regarding the PC Master Race joke, you should read this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PC_Master_Race#History
PS. Joking about things doesn’t make them true. We have made fun about various serious topics over multiple centuries now, none of them have come true so far.
No. It was a joke that made fun of the PC users as well.
You do know that the PC Master Race was originally intended to make fun of the pseudoscientific Nazi ideology “master race”?
It feels like we need this joke more than ever before.
I find it odd that technically knowledgeable people choose Facebook over other alternatives. Even if you don’t consider the ethical and privacy issues, Facebook is, technically speaking, completely useless.
Well. I’m honestly surprised that people even go beyond Facebook to be honest. :(
I can’t tell if you’re sarcastic or not. :P
Linux Mint!
It’s based on Ubuntu, which means broad support for basically everything, including niche things like the Mullvad VPN client.
Mint has been around for a long time and they have had plenty of time to prove their place as a stable and reliable alternative.
Their software center includes well integrated support for Flatpaks, which is a a must have for things like Steam.
Mint is polished both visually and technically speaking. It’s a great general purpose option for both beginners and experienced users.
However. I might not be as ‘cool’ as some other new shiny players, which seems to be important for some, but I don’t feel comfortable recommending something that most likely last for a few years.
Mint is not something that I use myself, but it’s what I generally recommend to most users. I hope that excludes me me as some Mint fanboy.
That sounds like a wise thing to do!
