I’m not so sure it’s a joke. He just played through Dishonored with some of the devs and uploaded it to YT, and it sounded a lot like the team enjoyed looking back not just for nostalgia, but also a reminder of the kind of work they got to do back then. I would not be surprised if that reunion brought back some real ambitions to take back control of their work.

Same. I have a thing where I like to complete everything i can in a game before beating the final boss. I discovered the Master Quest, and then nothing would do but to beat that first and roll up to Ganon a god. Bashed my head against that wall for a while then put it down.
