That’s pretty normal when you’re buying small amounts directly from the mint. You really only do that when you are looking to collect, and intend to hold them in mint condition until the value is increased from rarity years down the line.
This isn’t particularly special other than the fact that the Mint is barred by law from making coins for living presidents. Well, until now of course because of Trump’s massively inflated ego, complete lack of self awareness, and ignoring laws.
They’re actually not barred by law.
The law prohibits putting a living person on paper currency, and another law prohibits putting a living person on the reverse side of coins. Nothing about the obverse side. It’s only tradition to not put a living person on coins.

“rarity years down the line” ain’t true of course. There is no reason to ever buy these as an investment.
