Well it is a job, but it’s also a relationship. The two aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive. In the OP, the one person presumably has a job where they are working outside of the home. The other person’s job is to cook inside of the home.

In fact, thinking about it like a job might be even better because then you can set clearer boundaries, like “days off/vacations” from cooking.

In general, it seems like the stay at home spouse is expected to be “always on”, but people get burnt out and relationships get strained that way. People need more breaks and clearly defined delineations for that.
