The craziest one to me was always the KKK and other white supremacy groups putting up crosses in black folks yards and setting them on fire.

Historically (and today) those racist groups consider themselves Christian. The obvious part we focus on about that is usually that the entire message of Jesus was about loving everyone despite your differences… but they’re also literally threatening people with the thing their supposed savor was nailed to for having a different skin color, and burning their own religious symbol.

It’s such a layered and severe example of missing the point in every possible way that if I didn’t know it was historical fact I’d read it as sarcastic hyperbole.
