The EU today launched a call for tenders to establish up to seven AI Gigafactories across Europe, as part of its latest major push to accelerate Europe\'s technological sovereignty and ambition of becoming the AI Continent.

    Several European countries much have more data center capacities each than China.

    Where did you get the impression that Europe has more compute than China?

    This analysis estimates that the US (75%) and China (14%) have much higher aggregate performance than Europe (listed as EU + Norway) at 5.6% (reference date: early 2025), in terms of 16-bit FLOP/s.

    This projection lists 35GW of compute for the US and 5GW for China but only 2.3 GW for Europe for 2026.
