Have you seen how many of those lids wash up on beaches? I think the small inconvenience is more than worth it to prevent that.
I think there is an issue with the implementation. They hold worse as they are smaller.
Also technically, afaik this could be an issue in recycling. Material would need to be shredded entirely before a separation can be done. Same was the case with the “hygiene seal” before though
