The Trump administration has greenlit Saudi Arabia’s nuclear enrichment project, but with no safeguards in place to prevent the development of a bomb, CNN reported on Friday.

The draft deal, viewed by the news outlet, showed Washington’s support for Riyadh’s civilian nuclear programme is still awaiting President Donald Trump’s signature, despite US-Saudi negotiations concluding in October.

Unnamed officials cited in the story indicated that the documents, which include the mandatory “123 agreement” and safeguards protocols, have not yet been sent to Congress, potentially for fear of bipartisan pushback.

Seems to run counter to enacted law. Also, how much you want to bet there will be chicinery with the upcoming government shutdown will provide cloak and cover for this.

Crazy thought: this is all blackmail because Saudi Arabia got a copy of the Epstein files.

Iran started their nuclear program in the 60s. They have been enriching for decades and yet no bomb despite Israel and the US claiming a bomb is just weeks away for decades.

So yeah, Iran has a pretty good track record when it comes to nuclear weapons. They literally agreed to a non-proliferation deal and Trump ripped it up because it had Obama’s signature on it.

In part justifiable due to the said behavior in africa but your trust in Iran is misguided at best.

They are routinely using terrorism and supporting Russia and authocraths.

I mean, not really? Neither Iran nor its most prominent proxies (Hamas excluded) use terrorism on a regular basis; Western media just loves calling all anti-Western violent dissent terrorism. As for supporting Russia, I mean, it’s not Russia that sanctioned them to death. That one is a pure self-own by the West; Iran has made it clear multiple times that it doesn’t like the status quo but it needs to trade with someone. If America and co. weren’t so committed to having Iran as a vassal state those Shahed drones could’ve been going to Ukraine instead. Iran has many skeletons in its closet (Assad being the most obvious), but not these. Finally, which autocrats?
