Key Points
More voters would be more likely to support a democratic socialist candidate than a Make America Great Again supporter or a candidate endorsed by President Donald Trump, the CNBC All-America Economic Survey found.
The findings may allay concerns of centrist Democrats, who have been worried about the leftward shift of primary winners in 2026.
The poll indicates that even with a number of self-described democratic socialists on the ballot, Democrats will have the upper hand heading into November’s midterm election, which is widely viewed as a referendum on Trump.
Capitalism remains more popular than socialism in the U.S., the poll found, but has declined in public sentiment in recent years as socialism has gained.
Lovely how the media has to mention somehow this is concerning for Democrats first even though it’s far more concerning for Republicans.
Almost like theyre trying to divide people…
Edit- to see what I mean, they talked to NO ONE except Micah Roberts who only offered an opinion on if attitudes towards socialism would shift (and works at a think tank.) It would be good for people to get used to reading the article and picking up pure bullshit like CNBC put in their article here which has absolutely zero basis or grounding in reality as they have precisely zero sources to back up their “concerns of centrists” remark.
I seem to recall that Bernie polled better against Trump than Hillary did during primary season in 2016
We probably don’t need to dissect the 2016 election too much further as it’s been done to death
But! It’s pretty clear in hindsight that it was a populist election with growing resentment towards the status quo was starting to crescendo. Sanders would’ve crushed Trump and we’d all be in at least much less chaotic world
Running Hilary Clinton, one of the major architects of the DNCs neoliberal shift following Reagan, will be considered on of the major historical blunders ever and the catalyzing incident behind the collapse of the American hegemony.
Hillary got more votes in the primary. If you can’t win a primary, there’s no reason to cry about your chances in the general.
Dear Americans : as you probably know, most of Europe is turning to shit right now, so you have a bit of time to make things good on your end before parts of europe fall into fascism(again). Seeing you succeeding in overturning this will certainly help us do the same when time comes.
Articles like this give me hope. Hungary gave me hope too, but the scale is different.
As an American I sincerely hope we can return the light y’all showed us this past decade
as you probably know, most of Europe is turning to shit right now,
What isn’t turning to shit? Outside of China, everyone is having a bad time. Asia is the canary in the coalmine for a population crisis (while still resisting immigration), Canada and Australia have a housing crisis, there’s a general, global economic slowdown.
Relatively speaking, EU aint too bad. And that’s mostly because Trump was so comically bad it made most of the continent do a double take on the whole far right thing (it’s a shame some countries still chose to slip, but it slowed it down).
I do see a light. But I also think we’re in the eye of the storm. It’ll get much much worse, then hopefully better if we make it through that.
China is doing worse than the west right now.
I’d just say, Canada has a housing affordability crisis. He have lots of houses maybe not where everyone wants to move to, but there’s lots of empty or underutilized houses in Canadian small towns.
This is true in the US as well, more than enough homes/buildings/indoor spaces for everyone. But my rent is nearly 3k for a less than 1000 sq ft, even in a nice area that’s just crazy
The Republican party imploded under Trump. Now it’s the Democrats turn.
… to also implode? Let’s hope so, maybe the Mamdanis have a chance, then.
The findings may allay concerns of centrist Democrats
I doubt it. I’m sure they’re far more concerned about this:
Capitalism remains more popular than socialism in the U.S., the poll found, but has declined in public sentiment in recent years as socialism has gained.
Turns out that unchecked monopolies and trillionaires while more and more people are priced out of life (or come out the gate unable to start a career) is bad PR. Who knew?
They are definitely trying to figure out a way to support Trump’s war on socialism without being explicit about it.
