But he’d have to if it came to it. Or his career is over.

I still don’t know how Trump gets to break every promise he ever makes without consequence, but it doesn’t work for anyone else.

Simple. If Trump breaks a promise, clearly it’s because the evil Democrats are preventing him from following through somehow. And if the evil Democrats fail to follow through, it’s because they’re evil Democrats. Hope this helps.

Yeah, and as a mayor you have to wonder if he’s over playing his hand. I don’t know how much a mayor can technically do, and how much other politicians can be a thorn in his side over this… but I’m assuming a mayor doesn’t have all the power here.

What happens if another politician sees this as an overstep and deliberately chooses to make an arrest as hard as possible? If the position of Mayor doesn’t ensure Mamdani can deliver, it’s as you said… political suicide.

I’m worried someone might try make Mamdani look bad. They might orchestrate Netanyahu’s visit, in part, because it’ll make Mamdani look bad. What then?

Memdani is very skilled. I think him and his team could easily call escorting Netanyahu’s motorcade through New York and delivering him to federal authorities an “arrest” even though the feds would let him go immediately. He would be seen doing everything he could despite it being effectively performative.

So yeah, Netanyahu won’t risk the embarrassment.
