And while Pillars of Eternity isn’t my particular cup of tea, others swear by it.
I know the reception to Outer Worlds was “eh” (and I thought it was “eh”). And it was clearly supposed to be a New Vegas-like. But I think people forget Obsidian released 9 games and some great writing since Fallout 4 came out.
For fallout series, every one of them. I prefer them way over the Bethesda fallout games.
So the latest Obsidian game you have played is over 15 years old? If you want a feel for how current day Obsidian games play you should play Avowed or Outer Worlds to before expecting a second New Vegas and setting yourself up for disappointment.
Better to have a chance at hope, then know it will be a disappointment if Bethesda does it
