This is loose because of people like Orin Hatch, who rigged the system for his daughter’s supplement company, which was also found to contain no amounts of some of the ingredients that were listed on the bottle. To make regulation looser would only be possible by not requiring supplements to be edible or by not requiring a list of ingredients (including allergens).
